January Book Haul

photo-31-1-17-4-28-30-pm

First month of the year is now done and dusted. January is always a bit of a funny month, it takes a bit of time to get back into a normal routine, and to remember to write 2017 instead of 2016. Like everyone else I’ve set goals for myself this year that include everything from career, home, travel, as well as book related goals, such as creating content for this blog and my Instagram account.

Best reads of 2016

We are now into the second week of 2017, everyone’s come down from their festive high and gotten back into a normal routine. 2016 is well and truly over, and now even Christmas feels like forever ago. I’m sure I’m not alone in feeling like 2016 just flew by. Now’s the time when everyone looks back on the previous year, reflects on everything that happened, both the good and the bad, and starts making plans for 2017.

Christmas Wish List 2016

photo-10-12-16-3-14-01-pm

It’s that time of year again, and instead of going on about how I can’t believe it’s Christmas already, I’m just going to say how excited I am for Christmas. I definitely fall into the boat of people who love this time of year. My anticipation levels are high. Now is the time for gingerbread, decorations and Christmas movies. Now while here in Australia we might be wearing skirts and sandals instead of coats and knits, it’s no less festive (just in a different way). I love putting up Christmas decorations, and every year I seem to add more, but I love making my home feel festive.

October Book List

02

I’m so happy with the books I got this month. A few were books I’d been wanting for a while and some are newer releases that I picked up. I’ve had a fairly quiet month in October so was able to get a lot of reading done which was great, and I felt like I got into a good reading rhythm.

July Book List

02

July was such a busy month for me, I had so much good stuff going on with birthdays and people coming to visit who I hadn’t seen for ages. It was a really fun month, but was non-stop and flew by so quickly. I’m trying not to think too hard about how quickly the year seems to be going, because I definitely haven’t read nearly as many books yet this year as I want to. There are so many books on my radar at the moment, and with some books I’ve been highly anticipating being released within the next few months, I’m finding it hard to stop myself from buying all of them.

February Book List

Processed with VSCOcam with se3 preset

Okay so I’m a little late with February’s book list, but it was a slightly shorter month so I did miss out on a few precious extra days of reading and compiling my list, so I hope I can be forgiven. During February I was reading quite a few books on my kindle as opposed to buying as many paperbacks. Sometimes I just go through a phase of being addicted to my kindle and spending heaps of time trawling through Amazon kindle books looking for new reads.

Summer Holiday Reading

Processed with VSCOcam with m5 preset

With holidays fast approaching there is a lot to look forward to, for some it might be planning a trip, spending time with family and friends or just taking some much needed time off work to relax at home. One of the things I look forward to is having a lot of down time to get into some serious reading sessions. I love reading and always make time for it, but sometimes it’s hard to sit with a book for a few hours during a busy working week, or even on the weekend when there are so many other things that need to be done.

The Liar | Book Review

I loved this book. Not surprising considering who the author is, but seriously this story had me hooked from the very beginning and I soon became torn between wanting to find out what would happen next and not wanting it to be over. I think that’s what lets you know how good an author is, because I could barely put The Liar down from the first page through to the end.

Obsession in Death | Book Review

Processed with VSCOcam with g2 preset

Obsession in Death is the latest instalment of the In Death series by J.D. Robb (also known as Nora Roberts). I was able to trick my boyfriend with this one into thinking I was reading a new author, but really it was just one of my favourites under a different name. If you are familiar with Roberts’ books you can definitely tell it’s the same writer from her particular style, though this series has a futuristic and gritty setting, based in New York during the mid-21st century, with the events in this story occurring during the last days of the year 2060.
