The Diabolic | Book Review

I’d heard good things about The Diabolic so it went straight on my wish list. I ended up getting it for Christmas and could not have been more pleased when I unwrapped it and saw its beautiful cover. It was my second read of 2017, and I have to say I’m pretty happy with the books I’ve read so far this year. Admittedly I’ve read less than I would like, but The Diabolic was such a great read that I don’t mind too much.

The Girl on the Train | Book Review

I don’t usually pick up psychological thrillers but I was going through a bit of a reading slump and was looking for something to pull me out of it. I can’t deny that another factor for picking up this book was that I saw the film was coming out starring Emily Blunt, who I love. The trailer really intrigued me so I thought I would read the book first. I always like to read the book before seeing the movie version, if I think I’ll like the story.

A Court of Mist and Fury | Book Review

Okay, upon finishing the last page of this book I had to just sit in silence for a minute to take it all in. I really loved the first book in this series, A Court of Thorns and Roses, but A Court of Mist and Fury just took the story to a whole different level. Sarah J. Maas expanded upon the world she introduced us to in the first book, making the story so much richer and introducing some of the greatest new characters.

Daughter of Smoke and Bone | Book Review

This book had a lot of hype surrounding it on Youtube (or more accurately, BookTube), and I’d only been hearing good things about it so decided to read it for myself. And I have to say, I was not disappointed. Daughter of Smoke and Bone is such a great book, with strong characters and a fantastical world created by Laini Taylor. It’s quite a hard book to describe though without giving away too much, but I definitely recommend everyone take the time to read this because you won’t be sorry.

Shatter Me | Book Review

I was really intrigued by the synopsis of this book. I find dystopian stories to be really fascinating, the exploration of how the world could change and how society would be effected and evolve. Shatter Me is set in a world where people are struggling to survive and control is in the hands of an organisation called The Reestablishment. Juliette is considered to be a threat and has been locked away because her touch can kill, because of this The Reestablishment want to use her as a weapon against their enemies, and somehow she must fight back and gain the freedom she has never had.

Dangerous Lies | Book Review

I’ve read other books by Becca Fitzpatrick that I’ve enjoyed, but this one fell flat for me. It was an easy read, but I didn’t love this book, and I found myself reading til the end just to get it over with so I could move on to a different book. I didn’t hate it, I just found that I didn’t really care about any of the characters and wasn’t invested in what happened to them.
