The Girl on the Train | Book Review

photo-27-10-16-4-15-19-pm

I don’t usually pick up psychological thrillers but I was going through a bit of a reading slump and was looking for something to pull me out of it. I can’t deny that another factor for picking up this book was that I saw the film was coming out starring Emily Blunt, who I love. The trailer really intrigued me so I thought I would read the book first. I always like to read the book before seeing the movie version, if I think I’ll like the story.

October Book List

02

I’m so happy with the books I got this month. A few were books I’d been wanting for a while and some are newer releases that I picked up. I’ve had a fairly quiet month in October so was able to get a lot of reading done which was great, and I felt like I got into a good reading rhythm.

A Court of Mist and Fury | Book Review

photo-11-10-16-2-44-21-pm

Okay, upon finishing the last page of this book I had to just sit in silence for a minute to take it all in. I really loved the first book in this series, A Court of Thorns and Roses, but A Court of Mist and Fury just took the story to a whole different level. Sarah J. Maas expanded upon the world she introduced us to in the first book, making the story so much richer and introducing some of the greatest new characters.

September Book List

photo-16-9-16-2-36-11-pm

What a great reading month September was! Well, it was for me, and hopefully for everyone else as well. Not least of all because of the release of a book that has been highly anticipated by many book lovers out there, myself very much included.

Daughter of Smoke and Bone | Book Review

photo-16-9-16-2-05-59-pm

This book had a lot of hype surrounding it on Youtube (or more accurately, BookTube), and I’d only been hearing good things about it so decided to read it for myself. And I have to say, I was not disappointed. Daughter of Smoke and Bone is such a great book, with strong characters and a fantastical world created by Laini Taylor. It’s quite a hard book to describe though without giving away too much, but I definitely recommend everyone take the time to read this because you won’t be sorry.

Winter Reading

Photo 14-08-2016, 3 26 09 PM

It’s been a pretty cold winter in Melbourne so far (though in saying that it was actually quite a nice day today), and I can’t think of anything better to do on a winter day than to stay inside with a book. Now I’m one of those people who really loves winter, I much prefer it to summer as I don’t deal very well with the hot weather. I love the warm coats and snuggly scarves, and drinking hot chocolate or tea while rugging up with a blanket. And if you can stop yourself from getting distracted by the internet and binge watching TV shows, which I am very guilty of, then it’s a good time to catch up on your reading.

July Book List

02

July was such a busy month for me, I had so much good stuff going on with birthdays and people coming to visit who I hadn’t seen for ages. It was a really fun month, but was non-stop and flew by so quickly. I’m trying not to think too hard about how quickly the year seems to be going, because I definitely haven’t read nearly as many books yet this year as I want to. There are so many books on my radar at the moment, and with some books I’ve been highly anticipating being released within the next few months, I’m finding it hard to stop myself from buying all of them.

June Book List

Photo 3-07-2016, 3 56 13 PM

I’ve been falling into really bad habits lately, I’ve been getting lazy with my reading and neglecting my blog, with the last few posts coming later than I wanted them too. It’s my own fault though. I find that in the colder months I become distracted by binge watching TV shows and spending way too much time on my phone instead of picking up one of the books that are waiting on my shelf. Something I’m really good at, that I’m sure a lot of people can relate to, is procrastinating. So I am going to work harder at keeping on track with my reading and my blog.

May Book List

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

Is it just me or did May just fly by? I swear this month went so quickly that I feel like I barely had time to do anything. My May book list is a short one, I did manage to buy some great new books though, even if I haven’t yet read them all.
